The Healing Garden

The Healing Garden highlights the importance of plants used in cancer medications, both conventional and herbal.  It is intended as a restful and relaxing environment for a recuperating cancer patient who has gardening experience.

Many of the plants included are used in the production of cancer treatments, others are purely ornamental.  Some are reputed to have healing powers and relaxing qualities, some are fragrant, and many are well-known and widely available. Poppies play an important visual role in the garden, including contemporary metal poppy sculptures and a giant carved poppy seed head.

The seating on the timber veranda provides a comfortable day-time lounging area and is important for the comfort of the patient. The traditional fencing and handmade gate complement the informal and naturalistic planting.
