The Perfumed Garden was established in 1996 when Jill Foxley was asked if she could provide a one-off maintenance service for a local garden. The 'one-off' became a regular visit and through word of mouth, the round expanded rapidly to incorporate many local gardens in the Herts, Cambs and Essex areas.

It became apparent that as well as regular maintenance, Jill's customers also required advice on planting and design from the smallest areas, right up to complete garden design and re-designs. The English Gardening School provided a comprehensive and well-respected vehicle for this and even before the end of her course, Jill had secured a commission for her first garden design.

As the design commissions continued, The Perfumed Garden developed its' landscaping business too, and still continues to offer a comprehensive service of both hard and soft landscaping services.

The first show garden, The Spirits' Garden, was selected by the RHS for staging at the 2008 Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. This was a big step and the team was delighted to be awarded a Bronze medal in the 'Small Garden' section.
